-
Did you know that up to 60% of women will have some degree of pelvic organ prolapse after birthing their first child?
Did you know having a c-section is not protective against prolapse?
This condition is incredibly common but still very little talked about. Current guidelines recommend that pelvic floor physiotherapy be used as a first treatment option for prolapse before exploring surgical repair.
In many cases, physiotherapy can effectively relieve symptoms such as heaviness/pressure in your vagina, feeling that something is falling out, incontinence or urgency of bowel or bladder, difficulty voiding bowel or bladder and pain or discomfort during intercourse or exercise.
If you do need surgery, seeking pelvic floor physiotherapist prior to a repair surgery greatly improves the long-term success rate of your surgery and physiotherapy post-op will help you recover faster.

Pelvic pain can be caused by a wide range of conditions including pelvic floor dysfunction and persistent pain conditions such as endometriosis and interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.
Our physiotherapists treat pelvic pain from a biopsychosocial lens. This means that we look not only at the muscles and tissues but also at your social and emotional well-being as it relates to your experience in your body.
